Carril<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>A miss\u00e3o Proba-3 (Project for On-Board Autonomy 3) da ESA foi lan\u00e7ada \u00e0s 10:34 (hora portuguesa) de ontem, a partir do Centro Espacial Satish Dhawan em Sriharikota, India, e a bordo de um foguet\u00e3o PSLV-XL da ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). Consiste de duas naves espaciais, de momento ainda acopladas uma \u00e0 outra e que, depois do Ano Novo, separar-se-\u00e3o para come\u00e7ar a voar em forma\u00e7\u00e3o com uma precis\u00e3o milim\u00e9trica a uma dist\u00e2ncia de 150 metros entre si.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Proba-3 lift-off replay\" width=\"618\" height=\"348\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5MHnmGLAITk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Qual o objetivo desta miss\u00e3o com participa\u00e7\u00e3o portuguesa? Criar eclipses solares totais de modo artificial. Cada um tendo a dura\u00e7\u00e3o aproximada de seis horas, a Proba-3 ser\u00e1 capaz de ver a t\u00e9nue atmosfera do Sol, a coroa, na regi\u00e3o dif\u00edcil de observar entre a orla do Sol e at\u00e9 1,4 milh\u00f5es de quil\u00f3metros da sua superf\u00edcie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ao bloquear o escaldante disco solar, a nave &#8216;Occulter&#8217; da miss\u00e3o Proba-3 imitar\u00e1 um eclipse solar total terrestre. J\u00e1 a nave &#8216;Coronagraph&#8217; aloja os instrumentos de observa\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esta nova tecnologia de voo em forma\u00e7\u00e3o, combinada com a \u00f3rbita alargada e \u00fanica do par de sat\u00e9lites em torno da Terra, permitir\u00e1 \u00e0 Proba-3 fazer ci\u00eancia importante, revelando segredos do Sol, do clima espacial e das cinturas de radia\u00e7\u00e3o da Terra.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/var\/esa\/storage\/images\/esa_multimedia\/images\/2010\/11\/proba-3_orbit\/10005471-3-eng-GB\/Proba-3_orbit.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images2.imgbox.com\/b5\/06\/IctRKjXj_o.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Os dois sat\u00e9lites da miss\u00e3o Proba-3 ter\u00e3o uma \u00f3rbita altamente el\u00edptica com um apogeu de cerca de 60.000 km e um perigeu de 600 km.<br>Cr\u00e9dito: ESA &#8211; P. Carril, 2013<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Na Terra, os eclipses solares totais ocorrem apenas de 18 em 18 meses, em m\u00e9dia, e duram apenas alguns minutos. Os cientistas solares t\u00eam de viajar por todo o mundo para tirar partido dos eventos. A Proba-3 ser\u00e1 capaz de criar eclipses solares a pedido, observando mais perto da orla do Sol do que qualquer outro instrumento anterior baseado na Terra ou no espa\u00e7o, at\u00e9 apenas 1,1 raios solares. O objetivo \u00e9 atingir um desempenho equivalente ao de uma \u00fanica nave espacial virtual com cerca de 150 m de di\u00e2metro, demonstrando um novo m\u00e9todo de opera\u00e7\u00e3o de miss\u00f5es no espa\u00e7o, em que os instrumentos podem ser partilhados entre v\u00e1rias plataformas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A fase de comissionamento ser\u00e1 de quatro meses, ap\u00f3s a qual a ESA come\u00e7ar\u00e1 a obter resultados cient\u00edficos.
