Kornmesser<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">O seu tamanho e gravidade \u00e0 superf\u00edcie s\u00e3o muito maiores do que os da Terra, e o seu ambiente de radia\u00e7\u00e3o pode ser hostil, mas um planeta distante chamado K2-18b conquistou o interesse de cientistas de todo o mundo. Pela primeira vez, os investigadores detetaram a assinatura de vapor de \u00e1gua na atmosfera de um planeta para l\u00e1 do nosso Sistema Solar, que reside na &#8220;zona habit\u00e1vel&#8221;, a regi\u00e3o em torno de uma estrela na qual a \u00e1gua l\u00edquida pode potencialmente acumular-se \u00e0 superf\u00edcie de um planeta rochoso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Astr\u00f3nomos do CSED (Center for Space Exochemistry Data) da University College London, no Reino Unido, usaram dados do Telesc\u00f3pio Espacial Hubble da NASA para encontrar vapor de \u00e1gua na atmosfera de K2-18b, um exoplaneta em torno de uma pequena estrela an\u00e3 vermelha a cerca de 110 anos-luz de dist\u00e2ncia na dire\u00e7\u00e3o da constela\u00e7\u00e3o de Le\u00e3o. Se confirmado por estudos adicionais, este ser\u00e1 o \u00fanico exoplaneta conhecido por ter \u00e1gua na atmosfera e temperaturas que podem sustentar \u00e1gua l\u00edquida numa superf\u00edcie rochosa. A \u00e1gua l\u00edquida s\u00f3 seria poss\u00edvel se o planeta fosse de natureza terrestre, em vez de se assemelhar a uma vers\u00e3o pequena de Neptuno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dado o elevado n\u00edvel de atividade da sua an\u00e3 vermelha, K2-18b pode ser mais hostil \u00e0 vida como a conhecemos do que a Terra, pois \u00e9 prov\u00e1vel que seja exposto a mais radia\u00e7\u00e3o altamente energ\u00e9tica. O planeta, descoberto pelo Telesc\u00f3pio Espacial Kepler da NASA em 2015, tamb\u00e9m possui uma massa oito vezes maior que a da Terra. S\u00e3o necess\u00e1rios mais estudos para estimar a cobertura de nuvens e a percentagem de \u00e1gua atmosf\u00e9rica presente. Um artigo de uma equipa diferente, usando observa\u00e7\u00f5es do Hubble, foi submetido \u00e0 revista The Astronomical Journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">K2-18b \u00e9 uma das centenas de &#8220;super-Terras&#8221; &#8211; exoplanetas com massas entre a da Terra e Neptuno &#8211; encontradas pelo Kepler. Espera-se que a miss\u00e3o TESS da NASA detete outras centenas de super-Terras nos pr\u00f3ximos anos. A pr\u00f3xima gera\u00e7\u00e3o de telesc\u00f3pios espaciais, incluindo o Telesc\u00f3pio Espacial James Webb, ser\u00e1 capaz de caracterizar a atmosfera de exoplanetas em mais
